The Snoody

Tiam Safari Free Pattern

You guys... another free chunky knitting pattern! The lovely team at Cygnet Yarns asked to work with me on another cute pattern for you guys, and I’m so excited to share it with you!

Chunky Handknitting Yarn

The inspiration behind this was a wearable snood – part Katniss Everdeen, part Kangaroo pouch, 100% cosy. I worked with Katie, the Director and Co-Founder of Cygnet Yarns (who has an enviable family history in the yarn trade!!) to create this for you, using their incredible Seriously Chunky yarn in Light Grey. Light Grey is probably one of my favourite colours from the range, and even sold out instantly when I showed at the Knitting & Stitching Show at Alexandra Palace last month, so this was the perfect opportunity to get my hands on some of the shade again! If you've got their Mythically Chunky in your stash, it's the same weight and a fab substitute yarn.

The Snoody Handknit

The Snoody is constructed seamlessly in the round, from the bottom up. Guys, I hate seaming things. Seriously. The front and back is then divided and worked separately, then the panels are joined again at the neckline to create the oversized reverse funnel snood. Finally, a few rows of ribbing finish off the armholes. Easy, quick, and comfortable, just the way chunky handmade knits should be.

Also: London weather. Unpredictable much? Although that is probably a topic for a completely different post, but it was suddenly really warm when I was taking photos for this pattern, hence the layered-over-a-James-Dean-tee look going on here.
